FULL-TIME MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN WANTED FOR CULTURAL HUB AND HOSTEL IN AARHUS C

Full-time | Monday–Friday | 08:00–16:00

Join the team at Roberta’s Society!

Roberta’s Society is a laid-back hostel, hotel and cultural hub in the heart of Aarhus. We bring locals, travellers and businesses together through food, culture and shared experiences.

Our venue is located in one of Aarhus’ most unique buildings, a former city library that is now home to accommodation, restaurants, bars, meeting spaces and cultural events.

We’re looking for a skilled, practical and proactive Maintenance Technician who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems and taking ownership of a large and busy building.

This is a genuinely hands-on role. We’re looking for someone who prefers picking up their tools and getting the job done themselves rather than calling someone else to do it!

About the position

As our Maintenance Technician, you’ll be responsible for the daily maintenance, repairs and general upkeep of Roberta’s Society.

From changing lightbulbs, painting walls and unblocking sinks to troubleshooting technical installations, maintaining ventilation systems and planning long-term improvements, no two days will be quite the same.

You’ll work independently, prioritise maintenance tasks and take responsibility for keeping our building safe, functional and looking its best.

While most tasks will be carried out by you, you’ll also coordinate with external tradespeople and suppliers when specialist work is required.

We’re looking for someone who can balance immediate repairs with preventative maintenance and long-term planning.

Your responsibilities

  • Carry out daily maintenance, repairs and practical tasks throughout the building.

  • Handle everything from changing lightbulbs, painting walls and installing mirrors to fixing doors, furniture, fittings and blocked sinks.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot and coordinate servicing of technical installations, including ventilation, heating, plumbing and electrical systems.

  • Identify and resolve maintenance issues quickly, efficiently and independently.

  • Perform regular preventative maintenance and building inspections.

  • Plan, organise and execute long-term maintenance projects and improvements.

  • Coordinate external contractors and specialist tradespeople when necessary.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, spare parts and maintenance supplies.

  • Support the setup and technical requirements of larger events when needed.

  • Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, professionally and to a high standard.

  • Work closely with management and operational teams to minimise disruption to guests and daily operations.

We imagine that you:

  • Have completed a recognised trade qualification. This is a minimum requirement.

  • Are ideally a qualified electrician, although other relevant trades such as plumbing, carpentry or similar will also be considered.

  • Have broad practical maintenance experience and are comfortable handling a wide variety of tasks.

  • Are extremely hands-on, resourceful and enjoy solving problems yourself.

  • Can work independently, take initiative and prioritise your own workload.

  • Are proactive and identify potential problems before they become bigger issues.

  • Have a good understanding of building maintenance and technical installations.

  • Are organised and able to plan both daily tasks and longer-term projects.

  • Are reliable, flexible and willing to help when unexpected situations arise.

  • Take pride in your workmanship and pay attention to the small details.

  • Have a positive attitude and enjoy being part of a busy, international team.

What we offer

  • A full-time position with regular weekday working hours.

  • A varied, independent and hands-on role with plenty of responsibility.

  • The opportunity to take ownership of maintaining one of Aarhus’ most unique hospitality venues.

  • A fun and international working environment.

  • The freedom to plan your work, take initiative and make a real difference.

  • A workplace where hospitality, food, culture and social experiences come together.

  • Staff benefits and a positive team atmosphere.

Practical information

  • Employment type: Full-time.

  • Start date: As soon as possible.

  • Working hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00.

  • Flexibility: Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during major events.

  • Emergency support: You must be willing to assist outside normal working hours in the event of urgent maintenance issues or building emergencies.

  • Workplace: Roberta’s Society, Møllegade 3A, 8000 Aarhus C.

  • Application deadline: Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
